Lucknow: After the rebuke of Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma, Madhyanchal Corporation withdrew the order of retrenchment of those employees of Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ above 50 years of age. Just two days after the decision to lay off on the basis of efficiency was taken, an order was issued by Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam canceling it.

Energy Minister (AK Sharma) reprimanded

The order to give compulsory retirement to such employees who have completed 50 years of age was issued by Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam on 26th April.

After the news of this retrenchment order was published in newspapers and websites, Energy Minister AK Sharma called Power Corporation Chairman Ashish Goyal to understand the reality and then reprimanded such officials.

Retrenchment order canceled

Along with giving instructions to take strict action against the guilty officers who tried to send a wrong message, the Energy Minister (Arvind Kumar Sharma) also gave instructions to immediately cancel the retrenchment order.

Background

The order of retrenchment of electricity workers above 50 years of age should be canceled as the MD of Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam had issued an order that Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation will evaluate the working capacity of the employees who have crossed the age of 50 years.

Those employees who do not fit in this assessment will be given compulsory retirement. After this order, all the power companies have started preparations to evaluate the efficiency of people above this age.

An order has been issued to retire the employees of the Electricity Department through “screening”. After evaluation, action will be taken as per the arrangements mentioned in the government order. Those who are unfit will be given compulsory retirement under the system given in the government order.
